Namecheap Hosting Review, A New Hosting Alternative For Me

Namecheap Hosting Review, A New Hosting Alternative For Me

Namecheap is not only selling domain but also provide hosting with good performance and good price as well. I registered many domains there and also have a hosting plan. Namecheap hosting is a good choice who concern about performance and price.

I am using the Stellar plan which only cost me $2.88 per month or $24.88 per year. With this plan, I can host up to 3 websites, 1 main domain, and 2 add-on domain.

Currently, Namecheap hosting has 2 location of data centers, the US and the UK, so if your visitors mostly came from the US, this is a very good choice.

I just realize that Namecheap provides 100% uptime, while my other hosting provider mostly offers 99.xx%. This Plan has 20GB SSD-accelerated storage and unlimited bandwidth, unlimited parked domain, up to 30 subdomains. Twice a week backup ( my other hosting provider only offer once a week). Last they also offer 30 days money back guarantee.

They offer Cpanel for the control panel and this is great as Cpanel is very easy to use, many of you already familiar with it.

I already use 3 available domain for more than a year and never had an issue with them. Even when I have a technical problem with my domains registered with them, they always fix it right away.

Other shared hosting plans with Namecheap are:

Stellar Plus

$4.48 per month or $46.88 per year.
Unlimited SSD-accelerated storage

Stellar Business

$8.88 per month or $88.88 per year
20GB pure SSD storage

Both plans above have unlimited domain hosting. All Namecheap server are using Dell technologies which is great, I have been working with Dell servers and they are a very reliable server.

Server Destroy or Server Reinstall – VULTR VPS

Server Destroy or Server Reinstall – VULTR VPS

I used to be using shared hosting for my websites, but lately, as the VPS price become more affordable and faster I start moving some of my websites to the VPS package.

There are some pros and cons of using VPS package for my websites.
I have better performance website, all VPS package in VULTR are using SSD instead of a conventional hard disk, this surely increases speed or access time to the website which is very good.
Have unlimited possibility with the server features, as with VPS we actually manage the server yourself so we can access almost anything on the server except physically of course.
Lower price than my previous shared hosting company, which is very good.
Send mail need at least 30 days to be activated, we need to ask support to do this, while in my previous hosting provider Sendmail is automatically activated.
Need more technical knowledge than shared hosting to operate the server, but as many resources all over the internet, this will not become a problem.
OK let’s back to our topic whether we need to use Server destroy feature or Server reinstall.
This really depends on your needs.
When to choose server destroy and server reinstall function?
Sometimes everything becomes complicated and we don’t know what to do next except to start from the beginning. There are 2 option in VULTR regarding this dilemma as described below:
Server Destroy
You will be using this if you want to start everything from the scratch, you will need to choose server location, new IP address, new password for administrator.
Server reinstall
They still keep the IP address, server location, password for administrator, and other basic settings, this is what I like the most.
At first, I was using Server Destroy, but later I use Server reinstall feature to install my server from the beginning when something goes wrong as I still keep some basic setting that will save me a lot of time when configuring the server.
I hope everything is clear to you now. Sometimes I help my friend via TeamViewer configuring the server in VULTR, so if you want my help just give let me know.

Why would I want to reinstall my existing web server in VULTR?
The main reason is i need to downgrade my PHP version to 5.6 currently 7.01 and the program i need to install only support PHP version 5.6

This is not ideal solution but i don’t see other way to downgarde PHP version without resinstalling server. Anyway my 2 blogs on VULTR is just have 1 and 2 post respectively, so it doesn’t big deal.

OK let’s start the process, after login to your VULTR account you will see this dashboard:

destroy server vultr
Double click the server name.
server information
I was wrong no need to reinstal or destroy server, only need to change via VPSSIM see this post:

Non www to www Redirection WordPress on Hostgator

Non www to www Redirection WordPress on Hostgator

My experience to redirect non www to www on WordPress and Hostgator. Check with your hosting provider if not Hostgator.

After activating SSL (https) now its time to redirect from non www to www. This is optional you can redirect non www to www or redirect www to non www (naked domain), depends on your preferences.

The website is based on WordPress CMS version 5.3.2 and using Hostgator as the hosting company. On their manual here said that I need to add

RewriteCond %HTTP_HOST} ^$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$$1 [R=301,L]

on the .htaccess file (I edit this file via the file manager on CPANEL)

When I add the code it doesn’t changed, it still redirect no non www. I didn’t understand why the code is not redirecting. I am sure that the code is correct because the source is from HostGator itself.

Then I check with and found that the WordPress did the redirection. Knowing this I then logon to WordPress’s Darshboard and click on Settings – General.

I found it still using on WordPress address and Site address section. Then I changed both to

check redirection status

When I check it’s now working correctly as I want it to.
